St. Emilion Grand Cru – AOC –

Saint Emilion Grand Cru wine is a red wine with an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) produced in part of the nine communes of the Saint Emilion appellation. The appellation is part of the Libournais vineyard, one of the subdivisions of the Bordeaux vineyard.
There are in fact two AOCs in the region (Appelation area) of Saint-Émilion: on the one hand the AOC Saint Emilion, and on the other hand the AOC Saint Emilion Grand Cru.
The difference between the two AOCs is not geographical, but is linked to very strict conditions. To benefit from the Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation, a yield limited to 40 hl/ha and a minimum aging period of 12 months are required. The wines from this appellation must be bottled at the property and be produced with three grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Aging potential: 5-10 years.
